cally [he/they]to Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are you most basic principles for life?English3·8 hours agoSome of my moral principles
-
Treat others how you think they would want to be treated, but not at all costs.
-
You don’t have to like everyone, and not everyone has to like you. Although, being liked by others generally leads to having a better life.
-
Avoid lying or “distorting the truth”. But, sometimes lying is necessary, like to keep a friend’s secret.
Some of my existential thoughts
-
There are no permanent consequences other than death (I do not believe in an afterlife, although I find the concept interesting). There are no rules to follow, just temporary consequences you may have to deal with. You can make up your own rules and follow them, or not follow them.
-
Perception is just a tool used by your brain (a small part of the universe) to process the chaos that is the universe. A similar universe could be described by a very complex particle simulation. That’s really cool.

Upgrade my eyes so I can sense different wavelengths of light at will. I would also make them very resistant to blindness.
if i were smarter, i’d be able to answer that
cally [he/they]to Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a superpower you've aquired or developed from technology or some external resource or capabillity?English14·1 day agoWith an arduino and a relay, I made a light bulb turn on when I passed my hand by a sensor. That’s like, basically telekinesis
great, self-esteem is pretty good and i’ve started writing fiction (it’s very terrible writing since i just started, but it’s writing nonetheless). my drawing skills have been improving at the usual pace and my social skills are, overall, much better than last year. a lot of school stuff to do though, ugh.
Thankfully, most trans people aren’t even at the breaking laws of physics level yet. Bad news though, once a trans person reaches space-time bending levels of transness, they become completely invincible.
I have a mechanical keyboard and have double click issues. I just kinda press down the keys really hard until they stop double clicking…
Is there a software solution for this? Like something that prevents double clicking by filtering keyboard inputs? for Wayland, on Linux?
same, mine is also USB-C on the keyboard’s end.

i have two very thin pillows and they’re not enough, but i don’t have a third one that’s also like them
yesterday, i hit the side of my foot but i felt burning inside of two of my toes for about 10 to 15 minutes. weirdest and most painful pain i’ve felt. it still kinda hurts today when pressure is applied, but way less and more localized on where i hit it.
cally [he/they]to Memes@europe.pub•Source: once let the wife set the temp while showering.English72·9 days agoI imagine it depends on someone’s height (and preferences), since if the water falls for longer it becomes colder by interacting with the air.
getting a shot when you’re afraid of needles hurts way more than hitting your elbow
